New Cake Blog!
I've decided to make it more official, so I've started a separate site for my cakes. Let me know what you think.
Just in case you're curious, Violet is my middle name. It sounds like it goes with the cake baking industry a little better than Annette (I think).

Happy Birthday Julie and Kelly!!!!!
Julie and Kelly just had a birthday that they celebrated camping with family. Kelly asked if I'd make a cake for their birthday and I was so glad that she did. I just love decorating cakes! I tried to bring in some of their favoite colors (Brown and green). Kelly thought it would be fun to use owls and maybe incorporate the outdoors since they were celebrating camping. I hope that this made it to Yellowstone okay. I was having too much fun planning how I wanted it to look, that I didn't think too much about how it would travel. Hope it was a good weekend!

More Cakes!!
This cake was made for a friend's birthday. He is an avid fly fisherman. The reels are made with fondant and royal icing, an the hat is covered with fondant, and I made some flies out of fondant and dried them.
Isn't this cute!?! A friend of mine is getting her little girl's picture taken for her first birthday. The photographer said that if they bring a cake they would take her picture while she eats her first birthday cake. The little girl is ADORABLE! I'm very excited to see how her pictures turn out.
Update:
There are a few pics posted from the photo shoot at the following link:
The Drive-In
Saturday night we decided to go to the drive-in. I think that it was the first time for MacKelle to go and Trace was pretty little last time we went. It was so much fun! We folded the back seat down in the van and piled in with a bunch of pillows and blankets and snacks. We watched Ice Age III. Then after the kiddies went to sleep the second feature was Transformers II.

Good Luck Hanni Family
Here is the cake I made for the Hannis. Jeff is joining the army to play his trombone in an army band, hence the theme of the cake. We are sure going to miss them. Thank goodness for cell phones, email, and blogs!! At least they won't feel as far away.
This was my first attempt at camoflauge. It was fun to try, but I might have to try it a little different next time.
On the bottom I put wheels made of fondant.
I tried to make some dog tags for them too. I used those food color markers to write on them. It was a fun cake to make. The day before I made this I had to make 250 cupcakes for a reception. This cake was the motivation to make it through frosting all of those. I have decided I'd MUCH rather make a giant cake than 250 cupcakes!!

Hanni Farewell Party
Our good friends the Hannis are moving soon. Tonight we had one final party to get together and have some fun. Another friend brought some fire foam (he is a fireman) and the REAL fun started!!!
Here is a picture of Trace standing right in front of the foam sprayer. He wasn't shy at all when in came to getting in the fluffy stuff!

Happy Birthday Jana
Here is a pic of Jana's b-day cake. I made it patriotic for her because her birthday is so close to the Fourth of July. We're sure going to miss them when they move. For anyone who is interested, we are going to have a going away party/openhouse on July 11th at the Mud Lake Park (the one by our house) at 7:00 pm. Come and say goodbye with us!
